Kitchen Cabinets 101

Time to get your kitchen cabinets ready for buyers

Buyers will be opening your cabinets to see how much room there is for their items. You will need to remove items you are not using and pack them away. Pack away the holiday dishes. This will give more space in the cabinets and gives you a jump start on moving. Just make sure you label the box with the contents so that you can find the items if you need them later. Get down to the bare necessities. Space sells.

Let’s get started

Start by taking all the items out of your cabinets and wiping down the shelves and the outside of the cabinets. Keep out only a couple of cookbooks and pack the rest. The organizing tip I like the best is using an old metal file sorter in a bottom cabinet to hold my cookie sheets and large cutting boards. When putting the items back in you are going to keep referring to these guidelines.

  • Put pots and pans in cabinet closes to stove
  • Put cutting boards by the sink
  • Put cleaning Supplies under the sink - think about using a  lazy susan for easy access. This works great on corner cabinets.
  • Put storage containers and plastic wrap near the refrigerator
Stack together items like mixing bowls, baking pans and plastic containers
