Refrigerator Organization 101

Refrigerators Need To Shine

Deciding to sell your home is just the beginning. I know your refrigerator is the last thing on your mind but buyers will be opening and closing your refrigerator a lot when they come to tour your home. It should smell fresh and look well organized. This information will help you with your new living arrangements also.

We start with pulling everything out and decide what needs to be thrown out. Then take the shelves out of the refrigerator and wash with soapy bleach water. Wipe the inside of the refrigerator out with soapy bleach water and rinse. Dry the inside and the shelves.

Now let’s put everything back!

Let’s think about how it should all go back in. wipe down any bottles or jars that are going back into the refrigerator. If you are putting leftovers back in, put them front and center to use quicky. The door is not a good place to put anything perishable for too long.

  • Put milk and juices on the top shelf with tallest container in back
  • Put eggs and cheese on the second shelf down. NOT in door
  • Put meat, fish and dairy on the lowest shelf, meat drawer is for raw meat
  • Put vegetables in the vegetable crisper
  • Put salad dressings, jams, jellies, salsa and sodas in the door

This organizing plan works if you always put things back where they belong. When you do shopping remember to always put things away where they belong.
